Who we are

We are Pelham’s 1st, FIRST Robotics team.

We are powered by Coopertition: We are a group of passionate high school students (9th-12th grade)—builders and entrepreneurs who are learning how to build mobile robots capable of grabbing, moving, and manipulating game pieces in competition.

We love FIRST Robotics: We are excited to play and win on the worlds biggest robotics stage - FIRST robotics competition. We have been learning CAD code and how to build real hardware - spending 10+ hours per week of our time.

We are FERMI powered: Our mentor Scott works at the FERMI Lab/Accelerator and has led teams for 10+ years - we are lucky to have him at Flux Robotics.

We are Pelham: We are proud to represent our community and appreciate everyone’s support!

What we do

During robotics season, we meet as a team 1-2 times per week on weekends in the lead team mentors’ basement to strategize, plan, design, and build. We also meet in virtual sessions during the week to learn about coding and CAD. Student team members make the decisions, create the robots, benefit from the learning, and are proud of the results. We started as a team of about 10 students in December 2024. By the end of the 2025 season we had doubled to 27 members.

In its rookie season, the team competed in FRC’s “REEFSCAPE” competition. We focused on building a robot that did a couple of things very well, rather than trying to do everything. The team’s first-ever competition was the 2025 NYC Regional at the Armory Track & Field Center in the Bronx. We were proud to win the Rookie All-Star Award and achieve a regional ranking of 22 out of 53 teams. The team also conducted outreach and community service, such as a screening of the documentary Afghan Dreamers (about an all-female FRC team from Afghanistan) in the local Pelham theater.

We are building on our success during our 2025-2026 season. The team is coming together for its first summer building and learning sessions and has higher design and building goals, such as developing a swerve drive robot. The team is also seeking to acquire a CNC router, expand its fundraising, and do more community outreach.
